Ovan is an independent eyewear and collectible brand founded in San Diego in January 2015.

​

The name comes from the Swedish word ovan, meaning above. It reflects the people, places, moments and ideas that rise above their surroundings and leave something behind.

STORIES THROUGH COLOR

Each Ovan edition begins with a story.

​

That story may be connected to a person, a place, a cultural moment or a particular atmosphere. A location can carry its own identity, energy and visual memory, from a surf break or mountain to a venue, stadium or city.

​

Color is chosen to reflect the character of that story. It is not decoration or a response to seasonal trends. Tone, contrast and composition are considered as part of how the edition translates its subject into a collectible object.

MADE TO BE WORN, DISPLAYED AND PRESERVED

Ovan editions are created as complete collectible objects.

The eyewear may be accompanied by edition-specific packaging, certificates, display components, signed material, memorabilia or rare variants. Every element is designed to support the story and provenance of the release.

Our editions are micro-produced in defined quantities. Once an edition is gone, we do not reproduce the same edition in the same frame model again.
